The Sanctuary’s professional teaching staff is dedicated to sharing the world of nature with learners of all ages. Our age-appropriate programs are designed to be hands-on, engaging, and are tailored to meet each badge’s specific requirements. All scout programs range between 1 to 1.5 hours in length. Please call early, as space is limited and programs are scheduled on a first come / first serve basis.

Daytime and Evening Scout Programs

Girl Scout Journeys (NEW)

Need help completing an activity in the It’s Your Planet-Love it! journey? NBS educators are here to help! We’ll work with your troop at NBS to complete activities and provide expert advice. Each program ranges between 1 to 1.5 hours and is the same price as a Badge Program.

Night Hike

Available for all groups at an additional cost, this special program is an educational adventure for scouts and adults alike. Join us as we explore the forest after dark, learn about the senses that animals (including us humans) use to survive at night, and meet nocturnal animals. No flashlights are needed – we’ll use our own night vision to find our way!

Overnight Scout Programs

Double Badge Option

Attend two, one-hour badge workshops programs; one held in the evening and the other the following morning. A half hour night hike will follow the evening program.

Extended Night Hike and Campfire Option

Join us for a fun-filled evening program. We’ll start out with a campfire and s’mores followed by a staff led night hike. In the morning, we will complete a single one-hour badge program!

Overnight Program Details

Bring your scout group to the Norman Bird Sanctuary for an experience they will never forget! Your group will camp out on the NBS property or stay in one of our classrooms. An NBS educator will also stay on the property. NBS will provide indoor or outdoor sleeping areas, on-site educators, and a continental breakfast. Your scout group will provide badges, dinner (can be eaten at NBS), evening snack, sleeping bags, tents, chaperones, and after-hours supervision.
