In collaboration with FabNewport, NBS is proud to offer a hands-on, 8-week environmental science class on the Sanctuary campus. The class focuses on collaborative exploration, research and investigation in nature, while helping learners develop their environmental literacy and have fun!
Do you want to explore Narragansett Bay? How about forest trails and rocky ridges? FabNewport and the Norman Bird Sanctuary (NBS) are teaming up to offer a hands-on 8 week environmental science class that will take place at the sanctuary. We will provide transportation for all learners from Newport to NBS and home. This class will focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: life below water and life on land through exploration, research and investigation. Learners will practice sustainable use of the sanctuary’s land and water habitats while developing their environmental literacy and having FUN!
Note: To attend Surf and Turf Conservation 201, students must have completed Surf and Turf Conservation 101 or obtain permission of the instructor.
Do you love & appreciate nature? Do you want to take action to protect it? FabNewport and the Norman Bird Sanctuary (NBS) are teaming up to offer a hands-on 8 week environmental science class that will take place at the sanctuary. We will provide transportation for all learners from Newport to NBS and home. This class will focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals – climate action and responsible consumption / production through exploration, investigation & design thinking. Learners will further develop their environmental literacy and take action to protect our fragile planet while having FUN! Open to all students who have completed Surf & Turf 101 or another course equivalent. Students who complete this course will also have priority admission to NBS Conservation Crew Internship – a paid summer opportunity.
